This is a painting of a scene from vacation days many years ago on Captiva Island off the west coast of Florida. We could watch the sun go down every evening from the lanai of our condo. The palms between the condo and the gulf would turn to an inky blue black color in the foreground as you squinted your eyes to see past them to the brilliant light show of the winter sunset. I've been wanting to paint this one for years and just now finally got around to it. This painting really says it all: this is why people go to Florida in the winter. This painting was accepted into the Broward Art Guild's juried exhibition, "Landscapes and Still Lifes."
